At Maidstone Learning Centre, our Key Stage 1 programme is designed to give children in Years 1 and 2 the perfect start to their learning journey. We nurture early literacy and numeracy skills, helping children grow in confidence, curiosity, and independence through fun, structured activities.

What We Teach

English - Phonics to Full Sentences

• Systematic phonics instruction (Letters and Sounds approach)
• High-frequency words and spelling patterns
• Reading fluency and comprehension
• Sentence structure, punctuation, and vocabulary building

Maths - Counting to Calculating

• Number bonds and place value
• Addition and subtraction strategies
• Problem solving with pictures and objects
• Shape, space, and measurement through hands-on learning

Communication & Confidence

• Speaking and listening games
• Storytelling and role play
• Learning how to express ideas clearly
• Growth mindset and self-belief encouraged in every lesson

How We Teach:

Children are grouped by ability and taught in small groups by warm, experienced tutors. Lessons are filled with activities, games, and personalised support so no one feels left behind.

Curriculum Aligned

Our programme follows the National Curriculum but is tailored to meet your child’s exact learning stage whether they’re catching up, keeping up, or moving ahead.

Parent Involvement

You’ll receive regular updates on progress, topic focus, and tips for supporting learning at home.

Timetable & Fees:

  • Available after school and on Saturdays
  • Sessions held at Maidstone Learning Centre
  • All students begin with a friendly, low-pressure assessment (£30)
