Supporting Your Child’s 11+ Progress
Preparing for the 11+ is a journey that requires consistency, practice, and the right support at the right time. As the academic year progresses, it’s normal for some students to experience dips in performance or confidence. However, the good news is that with the right guidance and resources, these moments can quickly become opportunities for improvement.
At Maidstone Learning Centre, we understand how important it is for students to stay on track, especially during the crucial months leading up to the 11+ examinations. That’s why we offer a range of structured support systems designed to help students strengthen key skills and build confidence.
Why Early Intervention Matters
When a student begins to struggle with certain topics—whether in Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths, or English—it’s important to address those gaps as early as possible. Small gaps can quickly grow into larger challenges if they are not tackled promptly.
This is one reason we introduced our February Booster Session.
The February Booster: Strengthening Key Skills
Our February Booster sessions are designed to identify and target areas where students may need extra support. These sessions focus on reinforcing core concepts, practising exam-style questions, and helping students develop effective problem-solving strategies.
Students who attend the booster often benefit from:
- A clearer understanding of challenging topics
- Improved exam techniques
- Increased confidence when approaching unfamiliar questions
For many students, this extra push in February helps maintain strong momentum throughout the spring term.
Ongoing Support for Students and Parents
Beyond booster sessions, we also provide several ongoing resources to help families stay supported throughout the 11+ preparation journey.
1. WhatsApp Parent Support Group
Our parent support group provides regular updates, reminders, helpful resources, and advice to keep parents informed and involved in their child’s progress.
2. Free Friday Drop-In Sessions
These sessions allow students to revisit tricky topics, practise additional questions, and receive guidance from tutors in a relaxed environment. They’re particularly useful for reinforcing what has been taught during the week.
3. CGP 10-Minute Practice Books
Short, daily practice can make a huge difference. The CGP 10-Minute Books are excellent for building consistent revision habits without overwhelming students. Just ten minutes a day can help reinforce key concepts and improve speed and accuracy.
Helping Students Get Back on Track
If a student hasn’t yet taken advantage of these opportunities, it’s never too late to start. With the right support and a structured approach, students can quickly regain confidence and continue progressing towards their 11+ goals.
At Maidstone Learning Centre, we work closely with both students and parents to ensure every child receives the guidance they need. Our aim is not only to improve academic performance but also to build confidence, resilience, and strong study habits.
